email from a student sent on Monday 15<sup>th</sup> claiming, amongst other
things that K2 is closing, that all sorts of terrible things are about to
befall societies and the Union is on its arse for cash.<o:p></o:p></span></font></p>

is currently fully functioning. The email I refer to notes that it would be
ultra vires of (above and beyond the powers of) the Union to not consult with
the student body on any issues regarding the change, opening or closing of a
service, such as K2. If a union service were to close this would not be the
case. Whilst we would strive to consult the student body on any matters we
possibly can we would not be able to comment on matters involving staff
contracts. This would be illegal and leave the Sabbatical Officers (as
Trustees) and the Union open to being sued. In addition, if <st1:place w:st="on">K2</st1:place>
where to close there are more than adequate and efficient alternatives for
societies to use.<o:p></o:p></span></font></p>
