Dear Sir Archibald Houdini,

We the undersigned hereby request your attendance at our forthcoming competition.  We would be honoured if you would accept the position of Lord Paramount at our Swansea South Wales and West Universities League shoot.  This competition is scheduled to begin at the 12th hour and 30th minute of Sunday May 30th 2006.  Arrows will be shot over a variety of distances, namely 60 British yards and 50 British yards onto a colour target being 4 British feet at it's largest diameter, a round commonly referred to as a 'Western' shoot.

There are several attendant universities, representing the honourable Bath, Exeter and Aberystwyth establishments.  If you are incurring difficulties in transportation I am sure these academic institutions will be of assistance is aiding your arrival.

We understand that you may currently be experiencing some slight misunderstandings with the UK Police Service.  We trust this will be swiftly resolved ,and give you our assurances that should you choose to return home and reside in Swansea that we will offer you shelter and protective custody.  Accept our deepest regrets for any part we may have played in this minor incident.
