First off, apologies for a long email
Two main sections:
* BUSA Cancelled
* Replacement field shoot (spaces still available)
I know it's been dragging on for a bit now, but as of this morning we have moved our effort away from trying to get ourselves on the lists for BUSA and on to planning for a replacement field shoot.
To conclude the BUSA saga, the blame does appear to lie with our Athletics Union. Although they faxed our entries to BUSA (who claim that they never received them), this was not followed up by either paper copies of the forms, or any payment. As Marie (BUSA Archery Coordinator) pointed out, had we paid or sent anything extra this would have been picked up a bit earlier and they would be more willing to help us.
Moving on to the forthcoming weekend:
THERE ARE STILL ONE OR TWO SPACES FOR THE FIELD SHOOT, EMAIL IF YOU'D LIKE TO COME. See website for latest list of people already down. If your name was on the list for BUSA I've already included you (apart from Andy and Lucy). If you go the website you can see photos of our last field shoot.
Field Shoot is this Saturday (4th March) at Wye Valley Archery again.
* If there is any demand, pickup from the village 8:00 from where we usually drop off (the bus stop) Email me if you want pickup at village
* From uni 8:15 leave from Fulton House.
* NOTE - THESE TIMES ARE EARLIER THAN LAST TIME! This gives us time to go to Wales Archery Specialist (equipment shop) first
Cost will be £10.00, same as last time (pays for the transport and the target fees)
For those who didn't come or don't know better after freezing themselves to death, a quick rundown:
It is outdoors and in a woods. It is going to be muddy (again), wear appropriate footwear. It is cold out there, so warm and waterproof clothing (preferably something visible so you don't get shot). We will still be shooting if it rains (and hopefully we might even still have snow...)
Things to bring:
* Food and Drink, though we will probably end up in a pub again, if only to warm up...
* Gloves (else your fingers will get cold)
* Camera if you want to take any photos
* Money (for the shooting (£10), for the pub, and for equipment if you want to get anything)
* And obvious I know, but bring your bows and arrows, otherwise you won't have anything to shoot and will look stupid.
Assuming we have time, we will be stopping at Wales Archery Specialist, one of our main archery suppliers. If anyone isn't going but wants anything bought for them, get in touch and we'll try and sort something.
I have all the club arrows, but not very many bows. If you need any club equipment (apart from arrows) I need to know ASAP.
Any questions, email us.
Jack
UWSAC Captain
