Finally, we have a permanent arrangement, and it's the one we wanted:

THIS TERM'S OUTDOOR SHOOTING WILL BE AT SKETTY LANE

In order to try and get the best availability, we're taking SUNDAY SHOOTING, setting out from 10am with aim of finishing 1:30-2pm. Since we're not shooting a competition, we can hopefully get set up and down a lot quicker (no moving the square bosses :p )

We will still need to confirm availability every week, as we take second priority to any other users, but, still, we do get use of the field and don't have to travel up to Fairwood. We also get a field that isn't boggy and in the middle of nowhere, and most importantly has 2 pubs nearby. And on a final note, if it rains like last weekend we should still be able to shoot indoors!

We had to conduct a risk assessment, most is common sense, but the important points are outlined below. If you want the full version it's on our website under documents:
a.. Carbon arrows will not be allowed to be shot, unless they have an aluminium core, since metal detectors will not pick up these arrows

b.. Archers will be aware of where their arrows land to help narrow down the search. Arrows will be retrieved at the conclusion of each end if possible within time constraints, using metal detector to locate arrow if necessary.

c.. If there are any lost arrows at the end of the shoot then all the archers present will search for the missing arrows, using metal detector as required

d.. Archers to use a safe technique to withdraw arrows, and any archer found not to be using such a technique will be corrected and shown an appropriate method

e.. Instruct archers not to lift bosses alone and ensure correct technique is used for mounting the bosses on the stands

f.. Archers will be aware not to use a high drawing technique; any archer who persists in using a technique that, in the opinion of the officials in charge, could result in an arrow flying beyond the safety arrangements if accidentally loosed will be asked to suspend shooting and be removed from the shooting line.

g.. Archers will not be able to compete if they do not follow GNAS guidelines and will be removed from the shooting line.

Unless otherwise notified, no Saturday session, meet at the pavilion 10am on Sundays to move equipment and set out field, shooting immediately it is safe to do so. We keep shooting through the exam period and up until the Monday before Outdoor BUSA, 17th June
