Hi all,

So this should of gone out after gear night, but I keep forgetting...
anyway here goes.

Many of you will have recently spent lots of money on some lovely, shiny
bits of climbing gear. And as many of us seem to buy the same kit, it can
be quite easy to confuse who owns what gear. Also if someone likes the look
of something and it isn't marked then they will probably keep it. So to get
around this we have the ingenious solution of marking each bit of gear with
tape. A tape colour, or usually series/pattern of 2 or more colours will be
individual to you. You will probably have already seen this on older
members gear when you have been removing it from it's bomber placement.

So, if you have gear and don't want to lose it or have someone pikey it
then I suggest you take a look on our website
here<http://www.sumc.org.uk/about/tape>where you will find all the
current members colours so that you don't pick
the same colour/pattern as someone already has. Please also avoid using
yellow, as anything marked with yellow is regarded as club kit. Once you
have found some tape (electrical insulation tape works best, is cheap and
comes in a variety of colours) and decided on a colour/pattern please
respond to this email telling me what it is (and in what order, e.g.
white-red-green) and I shall add you to the list on the website! Obviously
you then need to actually tape all you gear like this.
