Ananova:
R2D2 "faraway" planet shot is Tynemouth

Star Wars fans were surprised to see a picture of robot R2D2 on his "home
planet" only to notice a Tyneside resort in the background.
The picture was among a number of snaps put on the robot's website by
producers Lucas Films.
The photos are supposed to show him watching the sunset on faraway planet
Naboo. But the sea wall and priory at Tynemouth, North Tyneside, are clearly
recognisable behind.
Website designers superimposed R2D2 after buying the snaps from photographer
Liz King. But locals spotted the landmarks instantly, says The Sun
<http://www.thesun.co.uk/>.
Sci-fi fan Warren Sheffield said: "I thought R2-D2 came from a galaxy far
away, not Tyneside. What's next? C3PO on the Tyne Bridge?"
Photographer Liz said: "The designers wanted an anonymous scene. Trouble is,
everybody here knows Tynemouth beach."
