Welcome to 2009!!
 
I hope that exams haven't been too hard on everyone.  For those who have 
had their exams so far we hope they went well.  For those who still have 
exams to go, GOOD LUCK!!
 
We are planning a post exam get together at Playzone on February 6th - 
for those with Facebook we have an event at 
http://www.facebook.com/event.php?eid=44493803709 .  If you are 
interested we're going to have to book beforehand to ensure that we can 
just turn up and get in without having to queue.  If you could email 
exec at sucs.org <mailto:exec at sucs.org> before the 28th of January then we 
can ensure that places are booked.  If you want to bring non-members 
then go ahead.  Just make sure that you let us know how many people you 
want to bring.  The evenings entry fee is £7.50 per person.  Once we 
know how many people want to come we can sort out travel arrangements.
 
There are plans in the works to open up the SUCS game servers in a 
fortnight to the entire campus, if you want to organise an event and 
require a specific game for us to install please email games at sucs.org 
<mailto:games at sucs.org> and we'll look into it.
 
If you've been in the room recently you'll have noticed a few changes.  
We've recently retired Neptunium, Americium, Uranium and Platinum and 
now we have 4 Halides in their place (Chlorine, Bromine, Iodine and 
Fluorine).  This was done just before Christmas with funds from SUCS and 
the Student Union. This gives us an excellent time to mention the SUCS 
"Junk List" - https://sucs.org/About/Junk its a page of the website 
created by eclipse last year to allow us to keep track of excess and 
surplus components we accumulate.  Most of the equipment is in perfect 
working order, if slightly old and we don't ask for anything in return.  
Its a win-win scenario!
 
The SUCS AGM is being planned for later this term, if you have any 
motions you'd like to raise please email exec at sucs.org

There are plans in development to run another round of Lightning talks 
towards easter time so get racking your brain cells for possible topics!

There is going to be a SUCS Social on Friday afternoon in JCs on the 
Just Coffee side from around midday if people want to come.  SUCS will 
be at refreshers on Monday, if anyone knows of someone who wants to join 
the society by all means send them to us on Monday 10-4 in one of the 
Fulton Dining Rooms.
