Hello everyone,
Just a quick email letting you know about a few events taking place for societies as well as the societies quiz, etc.
1.
Tonight there is an all societies quiz in Jc's on the coffee side at 6pm so please come to that and represent your society if you can. I would have emailed all of you earlier but I have been away for a few days in Leicester to represent our students' Union at NUS UK and asked Nick Cooper to email this to you and I have come back today to find nothing has been done so my apologies for that.
2.
There is no all societies night in Jumpin Jaks tomorrow for a few reasons; one reason being that they have promissed several things and are now not holding their end of the bargain so I will have to discuss things further with them so that we can have a societies night next term or do it somewhere else. However if you want to go to Jumpin Jaks, feel free to go there of course. You just won't get in for free.
3.
I would like to meet every society personally before the end of this term to discuss things that you would like to see in place next term and to get to know what kind of things each society does such as your aims, your events, etc. So if possible could you please email me so that I can arrange a time to meet up with each individual society. Thanks.
Other things to let you know about:
The drama society are having a play in Dv8 tonight at 7pm. The tickets are £5 on the door and cheaper I believe if you buy your tickets from the ents office in Fulton house.
The French and German societies are having a joint Christams ball tomorrow in Oxwhich bay hotel. There will be a 3 course meal, transportation to Oxwhich bay from Fulton house in a coach at 7pm as well as loads of cool prizes to give away in a raffle, a dance competition and something unexpected will be happening as well. Tickets for that are £20 and if you want one, please phone me on 07738042558.
The musicians society are having a concert tomorrow at the Olchfa School which is apparently next to the student village so that should be good. It is £4 from ents or on the door so why not go and see them performing live.
The choral society are performing this Friday at 7:30pm in the Talisin arts theatre. I personally look porward to hearing Les Miserables which along with other things will be performes on the night. Tickets are £5 and available on the door.
Finally, this Friday from 9pm onwards, the Afro-Caribbean society are having a traffic light party in bar 7 which is on Wind street. The price is £5 and the idea for the event is come in green if you are single, yellow if you are taken but still might be looking for something and red if you are taken and not wanting to be touched. They also have a famous Dj coming down called Dj SHAWTY so that should be great.
Thank you for reading this and please pass it on to your society.
Mark Houghton, Societies Representative. Ps: if you have anything to promote, please email me on 367159 at swansea.ac.uk
