Hi guys, lots to tell you about this week!
Well the weather really couldn't have been much better for our walks
last week. The rain clouds parted for the Cefn Bryn night hike,
providing views of both the stars and across to north Devon! The trip
to Fan Fawr last Sunday again had glorious clear sunny day, take a
look at some of the amazing views in the gallery.
Our walk this Sunday 20th November takes us back to the Gower, but to
the North for a change, to Woebly Castle. This fairly gentle A/B walk
takes us to the less well known part of this area of outstanding
natural beauty, starting from Llanrhidian and walking past the
castle, and heading down to the coast at Llangennith. Costs £2.50
The Cheddar Gorge Weekend Away is fast approaching, your chance to
sign up is on Tuesday the 22nd in JC's at 6pm. The trip will be from
Friday 25th to Sunday 27th November, and is an A/B graded weekend. It
takes us to the spectacular Cheddar Gorge, the Mendip Hills and the
odd Cider farm!. Cost is £25.
After the signup we are off to Lazer Zone, giving you the opportunity
to enjoy oneself shooting the mean old committee with harmless
lasers, afterwards we'll probably head down wind street for a few.
More details in next weeks email!
Also, from this week, get your hands on a ticket for the annual
hiking club Christmas Dinner at the swanky Oxwich Bay Hotel! This is
the highlight of the club social calendar for this term, and takes
place on Monday December 12th. Tickets will be on sale this week at
sign ups, and at all club events. Ticket price is £21, which includes
coach travel to and from the hotel, full three-course meal (including
a free glass of wine!) and a super-cheesy disco to round off the
evening! There will be a deadline for sales, so get your tickets as
soon as you can.
And finally, another reminder about the t-shirt competition, for
which the closing date is noon on Monday December 4th. If you fancy
getting your design on peoples backs, or just like the sound of a
free T-shirt, get your pencils out! We need a A4 sized design for the
the back, and 10 x 10cm logo for the front, the design must include
"Swansea University Hiking Club 2005/6" somewhere, so us older
members don't forget what year it was from.
If your stuck for inspiration take a look at past years designs.
