Buddist Monk Wisdom
                                              by Kevin Berman
                                            (Bellmore, NY, USA)

I attended an "Introduction to Zen" weekend at a Buddist monastery. It was
a
beautiful site high in the Catskill mountains, the trees glorious in their
fall
colors. The stone building was wonderful, a former church listed on the
National Registry of Historic Places.

Dozens of us were in a large dining hall, waiting for our training to begin.
  A
monk entered, ascended a few steps of a staircase next to a massive stone
fireplace, and turned to address us. We waiting silently for our first
words
from this wise and holy man.
He spoke.

"Does anybody have a green Subaru in the parking lot? I think it's a
Legacy.
You left your lights on."
